   The Bayonet and the "Oblique Order"
   While renowned for their fire discipline, the Prussian infantry was trained to transition instantaneously into the bayonet charge. The standard infantry sword, often ridiculed by contemporaries for its unusual lack of cross-guard, was officially designated the Stoßdolch (Thrust Dagger) and was specifically designed to be utilized only during the final 15 meters of an advance.
