The relationship between surface topography and $\text{Moho}$ depth ($h{\text{Moho}}$) is modeled under the assumption of local compensation. If crustal thickness ($h{\text{crust}}$) is the variable of interest, its depth is intrinsically linked to the density contrast. For a perfectly compensated block, the crustal thickness ($h{\text{crust}}$) relative to the reference $\text{Moho}$ depth ($h{\text{Moho}}$) in a region of uniform mantle density is given by:
