Scale and Resolution Paradox
A persistent theoretical challenge in terrestrial cartography is the Scale and Resolution Paradox ($\text{SRP}$). As the scale of a map ($S$) increases (i.e., the denominator becomes smaller), the density of isolines required to maintain topographic fidelity increases exponentially.
